Was trying to ghet some leggin’s for a child’s role in a play, and up pops Reveton Virus. Working on a church play for Christmas and me being investigated by the FBI for downloading child porn is not a good example for the kids for sure. So I googled FBI Scam and the FBI collaborated that it was a scam and I should try one of the removal tools. When I downloaded the Malwarebytes program it had to upgrade to work on the upgraded virus, but it was quick and efficient. I am sending this virus awareness to my virus check program and see why it didn’t catch it.

  12. The second I saw it I knew it was bogus. Like the FBI has a automated process to collect fines on something like child porn. I think a police officer would be knocking if anyone is suspected.

Was lucky enough to have a second computer and found this site. What a pleasure it is to have a resource like this one. Feels more like a smart friend that is a techie.

  13. Just got the Reveton virus. Checked out the website and they said I’d probably have to bring my laptop to a specialist. So glad I found this site! The scan just finished and after restarting my computer, everything looks good so far. Thanks so much!

I cant believe they actually risked a phone call to my grandmothers house asking for the money to remove the warning. I had told them it was going around because it was a hot topic for me at that time. My Aunt answered and after realizing it was not me playing a joke, she ask for the phone number(it was a blocked call) and she would(not really) give her her bank account number after she calls them back…..
“click”-phone representative. Beware and if you get one of these calls please call file an IC3 complaint at and see if they can work with you and your phone company to catch these criminals. I hope I get the chance but I am heavily secured.

  15. My old computer, which I was about to scrap, got the Reveton virus 48 hours ago, and I quickly realized that it was a scam. Even so, I worried that it “might” be real until I searched the website. I didn’t have to remove the virus, as I had previously cleared the hard drives of any information I wanted to a newer computer. It’s good to know that this virus can be removed by a user at no cost in most cases. I’ll print the information, “just in case”.
